New Hanover County man faces charges after girlfriend stabbed, beaten

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County man is facing multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault by strangulation.

According to arrest records, 46-year-old James Christopher Hinson was arrested around 1:03 a.m. on Monday at 5550 Carolina Beach Road, which is Grove Park Mobile Home Estates.

Hinson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault by strangulation, and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Charging documents state Hinson is accused of hitting, strangling and stabbing his girlfriend.

Records also indicate Hinson had been released approximately one week earlier after serving a sentence for assaulting the same victim in a previous domestic violence case.

No additional details about the victim’s condition have been released.

Hinson was taken into custody and is being held without bond. His next court date is April 23.
