UNCW walks off Towson 2-1 in the 9th

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — It took well past regulation to get on the board, but UNCW softball managed to pick up a nine-inning win over Towson on Friday.
The game was scoreless entering the second extra frame, in which the Tigers scored the first run of the game.
In the bottom half of the inning, a pinch hit knock from Peyton Carver managed to bring home Allison Corbin and get the Seahawks off the board. Soon after, a Sierra Persinger check swing put the ball in play. Madison Biddle managed to beat the tag at home, resulting in the walk-off victory.
“That was a swinging bunt, is what I called it, but it worked out and I was so glad,” Persinger said. “Honestly, the nerves weren’t really there. All I saw was the fight in my teammates’ eyes and that’s all I needed. Being able to competitively hit the ball in a spot where it tripped them up and it was successful, that’s all I could ask for.”
