Bellamy Mansion Museum to offer Civil War Walking Tour in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — History enthusiasts will have a chance to explore Wilmington’s past on foot this weekend as the Bellamy Mansion Museum hosts a guided Civil War-themed walking tour through downtown.
The 90-minute “Wilmington and the Civil War Walking Tour” is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, beginning at 9 a.m. The tour will start and end at the Bellamy Mansion Museum and will be led by Executive Director Gareth Evans.
Participants will explore key sites and stories from antebellum Wilmington, with a focus on the city’s role during the American Civil War. The tour will highlight both the people and places that shaped the port city during this pivotal period in American history.
Organizers say the experience is designed to provide deeper context about Wilmington’s development and its strategic importance during the war, offering a unique, immersive way to engage with local history.
The cost is $20 per person, plus tax, and advance registration is required due to limited space. The event will take place rain or shine, weather permitting.
While the tour is open to all ages, it may not be suitable for individuals with limited mobility due to the walking involved.
