Ben & Jerry’s opens in Mayfaire

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A new ice cream shop is now open in Wilmington’s Mayfaire area, bringing a familiar national brand to the shopping center.

Ben & Jerry’s held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new location, which replaces the former Cold Stone Creamery.

Dozens of people attended the event, enjoying music, taking photos and sampling ice cream as the shop opened its doors to the public.

Store owner Antonio McBroom said he was excited to bring a new look and energy to Mayfaire with the addition of the colorful brand.

Customers who purchased ice cream during opening day were also entered for a chance to win free ice cream for a year.

Ben & Jerry’s, founded in Vermont in 1978, is known for its wide range of flavors and has expanded to hundreds of franchised and company-owned locations worldwide. The company is also recognized for incorporating social mission initiatives into its business model, including partnerships and charitable efforts tied to local communities.
