Novant Health earns Newsweek workplace honor

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Novant Health is receiving national recognition for its workplace culture, earning a spot on Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Culture, Belonging and Community.

The designation highlights organizations where employees report feeling supported, valued, and connected to the communities they serve.

The recognition comes as Novant Health continues expanding across the Cape Fear region and the broader Southeast, with new and growing facilities driving an increased demand for workers. The health system is actively hiring as it builds out its footprint in the area.

Leaders say the honor reflects a continued focus on employee well-being and fostering a strong sense of belonging across the organization.

“This is where it starts right, a great culture is everything to us, it’s all about teamwork and that is how we build our programs and foundation of safety, equality, patient experience, it all starts with our team, you know, we’re here to take care of our team for them to take care of the patients,” said Laurie Whalin, president of Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Whalin said the recognition reflects the commitment of Novant Health employees, who continue to support both the organization and the communities they serve as the system grows.
