Wounded Warrior Project ride through Wilmington May 18

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wounded Warrior Project will bring its annual Soldier Ride 250 through the Cape Fear region next month, with wounded veterans scheduled to ride through Wilmington on May 18.
The multi-day cycling event supports injured service members while raising awareness in communities along the route.
Eighty veterans will bike from Jacksonville, Florida, to New York City as part of the ride, which also celebrates “America 250” and highlights the ongoing need for veteran support.
The adaptive ride is designed to include all wounded veterans, offering traditional upright bicycles as well as adaptive options such as three-wheel recumbent bikes, hand cycles, and tandem bikes.
Meghan Wagner with the Wounded Warrior Project said the ride is intended to challenge participants while building camaraderie and increasing nationwide awareness.
“It’s also an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the continued needs of wounded warriors and for us to connect with America, hopefully bringing in more veterans to receive the resources that we have to offer at their time of need, but also to provide that encouragement and support that veterans face, making sure that they know they’re not alone,” said Wagner.
The Soldier Ride 250 begins in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 14 and will make its way through Wilmington on May 18. More information about the organization and the ride can be found on the Wounded Warrior Project’s website: https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
