New Hanover High basketball player commits to UNCW
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover High School basketball player is taking his talents to the collegiate level and he’s staying close to home.
On Sunday, Kellum Brown, a 6’5″ wing/forward at NHHS, announced on Twitter that he had committed to play for the UNCW Seahawks.
As a senior, Brown led the Wildcats to a 19-8 record and led the team with 20.5 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game.
After the season, he was selected as a member of the North Carolina men’s roster for the Carolinas Classic All-Star Game.
He joins a Seahawks squad coming off a 27-7 season where they finished as regular season champions of the Colonial Athletic Association, before losing in their first conference tournament game. Their season ended with a loss to Dayton in the second round of the NIT.
