Leland woman charged with attempted first-degree murder

NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — A Leland woman has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after an early-morning assault investigation in Navassa.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Jennifer Antionette Bryant, of Orleans Street in Leland, was arrested in connection with an incident that happened during the early morning hours of May 10.

Deputies responded around 4 a.m. to a home on Old Cedar Loop Road in Navassa for an assault investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Bryant was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Bryant was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Facility, where she remains in custody.
