WILMINGTON (WWAY) — The murder trial resumes Tuesday for two men charged in a 2021 shooting inside the home of a Tru Colors Brewing executive.

There was a lot of legal maneuvering, as prosecutors and defense attorneys argued a series of pre-trial motions.

Omonte Bell and Dyrell Green appeared before a New Hanover County judge, as attorneys debated what evidence could be presented during the trial.

Defense attorneys asked the court to try Bell and Green separately, a legal request known as “severing” the defendants.

The judge denied that request, meaning both men will be tried together.

Bell, Green, and Raquel Adams were charged in connection with the 2021 shooting deaths of Brianna Williams and Koredresse Tyson, inside the home of George Taylor III. Taylor was the former chief operating officer of Tru Colors Brewing.

The Wilmington-based brewery gained national attention for its efforts to reduce gang and gun violence by hiring active gang members.

Adams was found guilty earlier this year on two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and first-degree burglary stemming from the same incident.

The jury is expected to report Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. for the trial.
