Pender Correctional Institute to host hiring event in Burgaw

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction will host a hiring event for correctional officer candidates at Pender Correctional Institution in Burgaw, offering both full-time and part-time positions as part of ongoing recruitment efforts in public safety.

The event will take place Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pender Correctional Institution.

Officials say candidates can apply online or attend in person and should be prepared for on-site interviews. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for those hired into full-time correctional officer positions.
