Town of Clarkton to celebrate 165th anniversary with Memorial Day Spring Meet

CLARKTON, NC (WWAY) — The town of Clarkton is preparing to celebrate 165 years of history, community and hometown pride with a Memorial Day Spring Meet on Monday, May 25.
The celebration will take place on Railroad Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature a parade, live entertainment, local vendors, crafts and food throughout the day.
Town leaders say the event is intended to bring residents, visitors and families together while honoring the generations that helped shape Clarkton into the community it is today.
The day will begin with a parade, followed by activities and entertainment throughout the afternoon. Organizers are currently seeking craft and food vendors, parade participants, community groups and local organizations to take part in the event.
Mayor Jerome Myers said the anniversary celebration is an opportunity to recognize the town’s past while continuing to look toward its future.
“As Clarkton celebrates its 165th anniversary, I remain focused on bringing people together, honoring the generations who built the town, and ensuring Clarkton continues to grow as a vibrant place where families, businesses and traditions can thrive,” Myers said.
Organizers encourage residents to bring their families, invite friends and help commemorate the town’s milestone anniversary.
