Veterans event in Wilmington to offer claims help and healthcare resources

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Veterans and their families will have an opportunity later this month to meet one-on-one with VA representatives during a three-day event in Wilmington.
Veterans Benefits Live is scheduled for May 28-30 at the National Guard Facility Maintenance at 2412 Infantry Road.
The event will bring together representatives from the Veterans Benefits Administration and Veterans Health Administration to provide information and assistance related to benefits, healthcare and support services.
Claims processors from the Winston-Salem VA Regional Office will be available to answer questions about veteran and survivor benefits, assist with filing claims and provide updates on pending claims.
Staff from VA Fayetteville Coastal Health Care and the Vet Center will also be onsite offering mental health services, social work resources and caregiver support.
Officials say mobile compensation and pension examiners will also be available and may be able to provide same-day exams in some cases.
The event schedule includes:
- Thursday, May 28: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Friday, May 29: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday, May 30: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
