The Club at Midtown celebrates ceremonial groundbreaking ahead of September opening

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Construction has already been underway for months at The Club at Midtown, but developers officially marked the project’s progress with a ceremonial groundbreaking event on May 18, drawing community leaders and supporters as anticipation builds for the club’s planned September opening.
The event included attendance from Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo and other local officials, signaling the project’s growing presence in the Midtown area.
Developers say the private social and athletic club has continued to generate strong community interest as construction moves forward.
“We were honored by the incredible turnout and support from the community,” said Mike Harms, managing partner of The Club at Midtown. “Having Mayor Saffo and local leaders join us for this milestone made the event even more meaningful.”
The Club at Midtown is being designed as a high-end social and fitness destination featuring cushioned indoor and outdoor courts, padel courts, golf and game simulators, luxury fitness amenities, a pool and steam rooms, and an upscale restaurant, café, and bar.
According to project leadership, the development aims to offer a more experience-driven private club atmosphere for Wilmington residents.
The facility is expected to open in September 2026, with additional project updates, tours, and community open house events planned in the coming months.
