How to deal with parking at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY)–For many people heading to Wrightsville Beach during Memorial Day weekend, finding a parking spot may be one of the biggest challenges of the trip.

Heavy traffic backed up roads leading onto the island throughout the day as hundreds of residents and tourists searched for available parking spaces. Congestion also made it difficult for some drivers trying to leave the beach area.

To help ease the frustration, the Town of Wrightsville Beach offers Pivot Parking, an online system that allows visitors to check which parking areas are full before arriving.

Officials also want drivers to understand the process for appealing parking citations if they believe a ticket was issued unfairly.

According to the town, appeals must be filed within 14 days of the violation using a form available on the Town of Wrightsville Beach website. The form must also be notarized before submission.

Drivers are encouraged to include as much detail as possible when explaining their appeal and attach any supporting information or documentation.

Once completed, the appeal can either be mailed or delivered in person to the Wrightsville Beach Police Department.
