2025-2026 Carolina Coast Conference POY signs with hometown UNCW

WILMINGTON (NC) — A local boys’ basketball standout has officially signed to his hometown university.

Will Seward from Hoggard High School put pen to paper Wednesday, May 27, officially joining the UNCW Men’s Basketball Program.

He was surrounded by friends, family, and future teammates in the front lobby of Boles Gym.

The 6’6″ Forward was voted as the Carolina Coast Conference Player of the Year in the 2025-2026 season.

Seward is a versatile scorer and player as a whole, finishing his high school career ranking top ten in both points and rebounds across Hoggard Boys Basketball history.

Seward credited the UNCW program as a whole for making him comfortable immediately.

“I spoke with the assistants ever since recruiting started, and they were all super, super nice,” said Seward. “They were super excited to have me, regardless of my role. I mean, you can tell by my teammates showing up here, they’re already treating me like family.”

Seward also mentioned how the close proximity between his home and the university made the recruiting process seamless.

The incoming freshman says he hopes for as much team success as possible, and it happy to be along for the ride.
