Children’s Museum of Wilmington makes Sensory Sundays free through end of 2026

The museum announced that its remaining Sensory Sunday programs this year will be offered at no cost thanks to an Access Sponsorship from BrightBridge ABA, an in-home and community-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy provider. The first free event is scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Held every other month, Sensory Sunday provides a self-guided, sensory-friendly museum experience designed to help children and their families explore the museum in a comfortable and supportive environment. During the events, the museum adjusts its standard operations by reducing lighting and sound levels, limiting attendance, and offering designated calming spaces throughout the facility.

The museum also provides sensory support items free of charge, including Power Packs, headphones, and sound maps, which visitors can check out at the front desk.

BrightBridge ABA, which serves families across North Carolina and beyond, partners with families to support autistic children through personalized, family-centered care. The organization says its sponsorship reflects its commitment to creating inclusive community spaces.

Museum leaders say the partnership will help remove financial barriers for families while expanding access to a program that has become an important community resource.

Partnerships like this help us create a stronger, more inclusive community for all families.”

The remaining Sensory Sunday events will take place on June 7, August 2, October 4, and December 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. Capacity will be monitored at the door during each event to help maintain a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.

The Children’s Museum of Wilmington encourages families interested in attending to arrive early, as space may be limited.
