Wilmington Police Department investigating a fatal shooting

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Officers with the Wilmington Police Department responded to 141 N. Front street in reference to a reported shooting Saturday around 1:36am. Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Officers and detectives immediately began an extensive investigation and have worked continuously throughout the morning to identify and locate the suspect. At this time, no arrest has been made.

The Wilmington Police Department extends its condolences to the victim’s friends and family during this difficult time.
