WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– One of UNC-Chapel Hill’s top leaders made a stop in the Port City on Saturday morning.

UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Lee Robersts spent the day in Wilmington as part of a summer tour across eastern North Carolina.

The visit highlights partnership between the university and coastal communities to better understand how the university can serve its communities throughout the state.

Roberts joined local officials and alumni for a morning hike. He explains why Wilmington is such an important stop.

“Wilmington is one of the fastest-growing areas not just in North Carolina, but in the entire country,” Roberts said. “We have so many Carolina alumni and supporters here. We’re trying to get here as often as possible to tell people about the great things happening at Carolina and to hear from them about how our university can serve them more effectively.”

Roberts will be doing a tour of the USS North Carolina Battleship on Sunday and will talk with admitted students.
