This year’s event will include fireworks launched from two locations–one across from Riverfront Park and a second from a barge near the Battleship. City officials say the dual displays will allow spectators to enjoy views from multiple points along the Wilmington Riverwalk and throughout downtown.
The celebration will also once again feature a live performance by the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, along with a special premiere of a newly commissioned work by local composer Chelsea Loew, created in honor of America’s semiquincentennial.
At 6:30 p.m., performances by Mackenzi Morris and Joshua Alan Rupp will take the stage, featuring the Theater for All chorus. The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m., highlighting the debut of Loew’s commemorative composition.
The evening will conclude at 9 p.m. with the dual fireworks displays lighting up the riverfront skyline.
Parking will be available for $10 after 4 p.m. in city parking decks. On-street metered parking will be free for the event.
City officials encourage residents and visitors to arrive early and take advantage of viewing areas along the Riverwalk for the best experience of the synchronized fireworks shows.
