Brunswick County Community Foundation awards more than $9,000 to local organizations

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Eight local organizations will receive funding to support housing, food assistance, family services and community improvement projects after the Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded more than $9,000 in grants.
The foundation announced Monday that it awarded a total of $9,210 through its annual grantmaking program. Funding came from the foundation’s community grantmaking fund and the U.S. Open King Mackerel Fund.
This year’s grant recipients include:
- Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity – $2,500 for a home build
- Brunswick Family Assistance Agency – $1,500 for assistance programs
- Cedar Grove Improvement Association – $1,000 for a walking trail
- Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear – $1,000 for eviction prevention services for families with children
- Family Support Network of Southeastern North Carolina – $1,000 for general operating support
- The Healing Place of New Hanover County – $1,000 for the Brunswick County Recovery Outreach Initiative
- The Lord’s Food Pantry – $710 for general operating support
- Suds of Love Truck – $500 for its Mobile Laundry and Hygiene Access Program
“When donors come together, their giving can go further in support of key community organizations like these,” said Moses Stanley, president of the Brunswick County Community Foundation’s advisory board. “By partnering with donors, we turn generosity into a powerful, permanent source of support for Brunswick County today and for generations.”
Each year, the foundation’s advisory board awards grants to eligible nonprofits, schools, churches and local governments using earnings from its endowment funds.
