Southport police release surveillance images of two persons of interest in July 4th weekend vandalism investigation

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The Southport Police Department has released surveillance images of two people investigators are trying to identify as part of the ongoing investigation into widespread vandalism along the city’s Fourth of July parade route.
Police described the individuals as persons of interest and are asking anyone who recognizes them to contact the department.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Southport Police Department at 910-457-7911 or contact Detective Riley Ransom by email at rransom@cityofsouthport.gov.
The investigation stems from vandalism discovered on the morning of July 3, when city employees found chairs placed along North Howe Street had been intentionally cut. Investigators later determined the damage extended throughout the parade route, with approximately 240 chairs, tents and other personal items reported damaged before the city’s annual Fourth of July parade.
The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been announced.
Police continue to ask anyone with information, surveillance video or other evidence related to the case to come forward.
