McAlister’s Deli launches ‘Communi-Tea Connections’ to recognize local heroes

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — This summer, McAlister’s Deli is saying thank you to the people who keep our communities going — one cup of tea at a time.
The restaurant’s new “Communi-Tea Connections” campaign celebrates teachers, nurses, first responders and other everyday heroes.
Each week this summer, a different group will be recognized, building on the company’s support of schools, churches and nonprofit organizations.
The campaign leads up to Free Tea Day on Thursday, when these honorees can receive a free tea. No purchase is necessary.
McAlister’s Deli Vice President of Operations Aron TenEyck says the goal is to recognize people who don’t always receive the thanks they deserve.
“I don’t think you guys are noticed enough. I hope that they recognize that we really do appreciate their support of our business, but that they recognize we appreciate their support in the community and the work that they do,” said TenEyck.
The company says it hopes the campaign serves as a reminder that small acts of appreciation can make a big difference.
McAlister’s Deli has two locations in our area — on South College Road in Wilmington and New Pointe Boulevard in Leland.
