UNCW Seahawk Club breaks fundraising record for third straight year
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Athletics has reached another fundraising milestone, with the Seahawk Club surpassing $10 million in donations during the 2026 fiscal year.
The Seahawk Club raised $10,102,270 from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, marking the third consecutive year the organization has set a new fundraising record. This year’s total represents a $2 million increase from the previous record-setting year.
“Having three years of record-breaking fundraising is a direct result of the passion of the UNCW community,” UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger said. “Our student-athletes represent UNCW with pride and embody what it means to be a Seahawk. We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s generosity to help reach this milestone.”
Since Oblinger joined UNCW Athletics, the department has seen continued growth in philanthropic support, with fundraising increasing more than 276% since 2023. The Seahawk Club also recorded the highest number of major gift commitments and the strongest annual fund support in school history.
Officials said contributions from Seahawk Club members, alumni and supporters have helped enhance the student-athlete experience through increased athletic scholarships, operational support and improvements to teams and facilities.
“This is a tremendous milestone for the Seahawk Club and UNCW Athletics,” said Adam Fearing, associate athletics director for development. “As we celebrate this win for our programs, I immediately think of the generosity of our Seahawk Club members and what an impactful difference they continue to make for our student-athletes.”
UNCW Athletics said the continued support from the Seahawk community plays a key role in providing resources for student-athletes and strengthening the university’s athletic programs.
