CFCC hosts CNA and LPN career fair as demand for healthcare workers grows
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College welcomed healthcare employers and medical professionals on Wednesday for its Certified Nursing Assistant and Licensed Practical Nurse Career Fair, highlighting the growing demand for frontline healthcare workers across the region.
More than a dozen employers set up booths inside the college’s Health Sciences Building to connect with prospective employees. While the event primarily targeted the college’s several hundred nursing students, it was also open to members of the general public interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.
A CFCC spokesperson said this year’s event was the largest CNA and LPN career fair CFCC has hosted based on employer participation.
Allison Bolton, campus manager with Bayada Home Health Care, said the need for certified nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses remains high as more patients seek care in their homes.
“There are a multitude of different situations where people would require a nurse or CNA at home,” Bolton said. “We have people waiting to come home, and we really have a huge need for caregivers.”
Healthcare employers at the event spoke with students and job seekers about career opportunities, hiring needs and the growing demand for skilled nursing professionals in home health care, long-term care, and other medical settings.
