Two Leland residents charged after string of thefts in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two Leland residents have been arrested in connection with a series of reported larcenies in the Delco and Riegelwood communities, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said detectives with its Criminal Investigations Division arrested Christopher Parrish and Ashley Nicole Harrell on July 20 following an investigation into multiple reported thefts.

Authorities said both suspects also had outstanding warrants from Brunswick County at the time of their arrests.

Parrish is charged with one count of failure to appear on a felony, one count of felony larceny, one count of attempted larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Harrell is charged with one count of felony larceny, one count of attempted larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains part of its ongoing efforts to address property crimes in the county. Officials are encouraging residents and businesses to report suspicious activity and share any surveillance footage that may assist investigators.

The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
