Secretary of State to meet with Columbus County business leaders Monday

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall will visit Columbus County next week to meet with local business owners, economic development leaders and community stakeholders during a small business roundtable.

The event is scheduled for Monday, July 27, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Beth Israel Synagogue Community Room inside the Administration Building at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville.

According to the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State, Marshall will discuss the state’s Rural RISE NC initiative, which is designed to connect entrepreneurs with resources during the early stages of starting a business.

Marshall is also expected to share new business creation data for Columbus County and discuss findings from a recent survey of new business owners.

Before the roundtable, Marshall will participate in a “Main Street” walk beginning at 1 p.m., visiting several local businesses in downtown Whiteville. Scheduled stops include Mercantile on Main, Seven Ten South Boutique, Todd’s Clothing and Irene’s.

The roundtable will bring together local business owners, economic developers, small business advocates and other community leaders to discuss entrepreneurship and economic development opportunities in Columbus County.
