Cerro Gordo man charged with firearm possession, assault and kidnapping offenses in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Cerro Gordo man is facing multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, assault and second-degree kidnapping, following an arrest by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

According to jail records, Christopher Arron Blackwell, 36, of Cerro Gordo, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on July 27.

Blackwell is charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Misdemeanor larceny
  • Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
  • Assault on a female
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Assault by strangulation
  • Second-degree kidnapping

Jail records show Blackwell received a $50,000 secured bond for the firearm possession charge and a $10,000 secured bond for the misdemeanor larceny charge. No bond was listed for the remaining charges.

The charges are currently pending, and Blackwell is awaiting trial.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is the arresting agency.
