ADM Southport facility earns national workplace safety awards
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — ADM’s Specialty Ingredients facility in Southport has earned national recognition for its workplace safety performance, receiving two awards from the Corn Refiners Association for maintaining high safety standards over the past year.
The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) recognized the Brunswick County facility with its Incident Rate Excellence Award and the Zero Lost Workdays Award, honors that recognize facilities with strong safety records based on workplace injury rates and extended periods without lost workdays due to job-related incidents.
ADM officials said the awards reflect the company’s commitment to protecting employees and fostering a culture where workplace safety is a daily priority.
“At ADM, workplace safety is a core value that guides our operations as we strive to continually strengthen protections for our employees and the communities where we operate,” Southport Site Manager Henry Stogner said in a news release. “This recognition is a direct result of the dedication of our employees at Southport who prioritize safety in their day-to-day work.”
According to the Corn Refiners Association, award recipients are selected using data-driven criteria that evaluate total recordable incident rates, the absence of lost workday cases and sustained safe operations throughout the year.
CRA President and CEO John Bode said the corn refining industry has made significant strides in workplace safety over the past two decades.
“Corn refining in the U.S. is one of the safest jobs in manufacturing, on par with office work,” Bode said. “Today, we celebrate the leaders who have brought our industry to that position.”
The Southport facility is among several corn refining operations nationwide recognized for workplace safety achievements during the association’s annual awards program.
ADM is a global agricultural supply chain, nutrition and food ingredient company with operations around the world, including its Specialty Ingredients facility in Southport.
