Leland unveils renovated Founders Park with community celebration

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Leland is inviting the community to celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated Founders Park with an evening of live music, family activities and food on Friday, July 31.

The free event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Founders Park, 113 Town Hall Drive, marking the park’s first major public event since renovations were completed.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a variety of free activities, including mini golf, foam axe throwing, basketball and community organization booths. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will feature Mayor Brenda Bozeman, members of the Town Council and other community leaders.

Live beach music from The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will begin at 6 p.m.

Food trucks and vendors will be on site with food available for purchase, while adults 21 and older can enjoy beverages from the park’s first-ever beer garden featuring Leland Brewing Company and Brunswick Beer and Cider. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

The park’s newly renovated playground and splash pad will also be open during the celebration.

Parking at Founders Park will be limited. Overflow parking will be available at North Brunswick High School, First Baptist Church and Woodburn Presbyterian Church. An accessible shuttle will run between North Brunswick High School and the park throughout the evening.

A portion of Town Hall Drive between the Founders Park entrance and Old Fayetteville Road will be closed from noon until 9 p.m. for the event.
