Pigskin Preview: North Brunswick Scorpions look for better injury luck in 2026

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — After a season marked by injuries and narrow losses, North Brunswick enters the 2026 high school football season with a healthy roster and renewed optimism.

The Scorpions lost nine senior starters to injuries before last season began but remained competitive, with five of their losses decided by a single score.

Head coach Bryan Davis said the program focused on building resilience through adversity rather than dwelling on setbacks.

“We want to have pride in what we have and what we’re doing,” Davis said.

North Brunswick’s offense will feature several young players this season, and Davis said the team is focused on improving each day while developing its identity. He expects the defense to provide stability early in the season as the offense gains experience.

Senior offensive lineman Zachary Wells said last year’s close losses have fueled the team’s motivation entering the fall.

“Those close losses were very tough for us,” Wells said. “We’re coming back this year. We’re the underdog. They all count us out, but we should give them a reason to count us in.”

Wells also pointed to the team’s chemistry and leadership as strengths, saying players are committed to doing their jobs and supporting one another throughout the season.
