Holy Cross Episcopal Church to host Back-to-School Wellness Fair

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Holy Cross Episcopal Church will host its second annual Back-to-School Wellness Fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, in Wilmington.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the church, located at 5820 Myrtle Grove Road.

Organizers say the fair will include family activities, music, games, refreshments and popcorn. Children will also be able to explore fire trucks, and free drawstring backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed.

Free vision screenings for the entire family will be provided by the Wilmington Lions Club. Adults will also be able to receive free health screenings through the Novant Community Care Cruiser.

Several community organizations will host information tables during the event, including New Hanover Fire Rescue, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, ELEMENTS, school resource officers and D.A.R.E., New Hanover County Health and Human Services, Coastal Horizons and Cub Scout Pack 205.

New Hanover County Health and Human Services will provide information on programs including Safe Kids, WIC and Medicaid, along with a hot car safety demonstration.

Organizers will also distribute information from Smart Start, the Cape Fear Literacy Council, Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, Nourish NC, the Diaper Bank, Help Hub and Special Olympics.

The event will be held rain or shine.
