Burgaw Parks Foundation announces second annual charity golf tournament

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Parks Foundation of Burgaw will host its second annual charity golf tournament this fall to raise money for improvements to the town’s parks system.

The tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, at Bear Trail Golf Club in Jacksonville.

According to the foundation, proceeds from the event will support local parks projects. Organizers said last year’s inaugural tournament raised more than $14,000 for Burgaw’s new splash pad, which is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Registration includes a four-person team, breakfast, a round of golf, lunch and an awards ceremony.

In a news release, Parks Foundation of Burgaw Chairperson Sydney Lewis said community support has helped fund projects that benefit local families and residents. “We’re looking forward to another fantastic tournament this year as we continue investing in projects that make Burgaw an even better place for families to live, play and connect” said Lewis.

The foundation is also seeking sponsors for the tournament. Businesses and individuals can participate through sponsorship opportunities designed to help support the fundraiser while promoting their organizations.
