Island Women to take over Fancy Pants Croquet Soirée in Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach, NC (WWAY) — A Carolina Beach nonprofit will take over leadership of the annual Fancy Pants Croquet Soirée as the organization that previously ran the fundraiser shifts its focus to other projects.

The Carolina Beach Mural Project announced Wednesday that Island Women will assume responsibility for organizing the event.

The Fancy Pants Croquet Soirée features costumes and croquet competition and has served as a fundraiser supporting public art in Carolina Beach.

According to the Mural Project, its growing number of public art installations, educational programs, MuralFest and other community initiatives led the volunteer organization to turn over management of the event.

“Fancy Pants has been a wonderful fundraiser and an incredible way to bring our community together,” Andrea Cannistraci, marketing and public relations chair for the Carolina Beach Mural Project, said in a news release.

Representatives from the two organizations recently met as part of the transition. The Mural Project said it provided Island Women with information on the event’s finances, sponsors, volunteers, vendors and planning procedures.

Island Women President Julie House said the organization plans to continue the event while building on its previous format.

The next Fancy Pants Croquet Soirée is scheduled for April 18, 2027.

Island Women is a nonprofit organization focused on community projects on Pleasure Island. The Carolina Beach Mural Project is a nonprofit focused on public art and says it has installed 21 murals throughout the community.
