Burglary in progress call leads to arrest of Wilmington man
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man has been arrested following a reported residential burglary in Wilmington early Thursday morning.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded just after 4:05 a.m. to the 1600 block of Fordham Road after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived, they saw the suspect leaving the side of the home. Police said officers gave verbal commands and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Amir McKoy. During the investigation, officers said they found the victim’s car keys in McKoy’s pocket.
McKoy is charged with first-degree burglary and is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
