Pender County Commissioner appointed to three national committees

BURGAW, NC — Pender County Commissioner Brent Springer has been appointed to three National Association of Counties committees for the 2026-27 term.
Springer will serve on the Midsize County Caucus, the Veterans and Military Services Advisory Council and the Transportation Policy Steering Committee’s Transit/Rail Subcommittee.
The appointments were made by NACo President George Dunlap.
According to Pender County, Springer’s committee work will include discussions on issues involving midsize counties, transportation, veterans, active-duty military members and their families.
Springer will also support Dunlap’s presidential initiative, “Building Better Futures,” which focuses on strengthening systems that support young people and using data and proven strategies to improve outcomes.
Springer is serving his second term on the Pender County Board of Commissioners and is the board’s vice chairman.
Pender County Manager Colby W. Sawyer said the appointments will help ensure the county’s priorities are represented in national discussions affecting local governments.
