House move to impact traffic in Oak Island on Wednesday

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in Oak Island should expect delays Wednesday as a house is transported across town.
Town officials say the house move is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 and will involve moving a home measuring approximately 75 feet long by 35 feet wide.
The structure will be transported about 4.5 miles from 6901 W. Beach Drive to 123 SW 3rd Street, with the move expected to take around four hours.
Traffic impacts are expected along W. Beach Drive, portions of S. Middleton Avenue, W. Oak Island Drive, and SW 3rd Street. The intersection of Oak Island Drive and Middleton Avenue may also experience delays as the home passes through.
Escort vehicles will accompany the move, while law enforcement officers direct traffic and reroute drivers as needed using W. Dolphin Drive, White Lane SW, and W. Yacht Drive.
Town officials are asking motorists to be patient, follow directions from law enforcement and avoid speeding on neighborhood streets being used as detours.
