UNCW fall move-in begins Wednesday with traffic, parking impacts

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW is preparing to welcome nearly 6,000 new and returning students to campus housing as fall move-in begins this week.
Students will move into residence halls from Wednesday, Aug. 12, through Sunday, Aug. 16, based on assigned check-in appointments organized by residential area.
University officials said students are expected to arrive on their designated day and time to help manage traffic and the move-in process.
Residents will check in at designated unloading zones, primarily located in residential parking lots, where they will unload their vehicles before the spaces are reused throughout the day.
To accommodate move-in, several campus parking areas will be unavailable.
The impacted lots include:
- Central Deck
- Central Deck Lot
- Hewlett Lot
- Terrapin Lot
- Schwartz Lot
- Suites Loop
- Innovation Lot
- Keystone Lot
The university is encouraging students, faculty and staff to use alternative parking areas beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, and to expect heavier-than-normal traffic throughout move-in week.
UNCW also encourages visitors and members of the campus community to allow extra travel time while students arrive for the start of the fall semester.
