Lucky North Carolinian wins $1 million Powerball prize

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — A lucky North Carolinian is holding a $1 million winning Powerball ticket after Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning $2 ticket was purchased at the Hop-In Citgo on North Road Street in Elizabeth City. It matched all five white ball numbers to win the $1 million prize. The odds of matching all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million.
Lottery officials say the winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
Three additional $50,000-winning tickets were also sold across North Carolina. Those tickets were purchased at:
- Park N Shop on Weeksville Road in Elizabeth City
- Harris Teeter on Davis Lake Parkway in Charlotte
- Happy Smoke on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is an estimated $20 million, with a cash value of $8.7 million.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
