WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two-time NBA champion and bestselling author Lamar Odom is coming to Wilmington this fall to headline Coastal Horizons’ annual fundraising luncheon.

Odom will be the featured guest at the organization’s event on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at the Wilmington Convention Center.

The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Odom spent 14 seasons in the NBA after being selected fourth overall in the 1999 NBA Draft.

During his seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Odom helped the team win consecutive NBA championships in 2009 and 2010. He was also named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.

Outside of basketball, Odom became a familiar face to television audiences through the reality series Khloé & Lamar, which followed his life with his former wife, Khloé Kardashian.

His personal struggles and recovery were also recently explored in the Netflix documentary Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom. The film examines Odom’s rise to NBA stardom, his struggles away from the court and a 2015 medical crisis that nearly claimed his life.

“Lamar Odom’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not linear,” said Margaret Weller-Stargell, president and CEO of Coastal Horizons. “His willingness to speak openly about loss, substance use, survival and the continuing work of recovery reflects the hope and second chances that are central to our mission.”
