Woman charged after deadly crash involving bicyclist in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman is facing multiple charges after police say she struck and killed a bicyclist Friday night on Carolina Beach Road.
Wilmington police said 69-year-old Christopher Johnston was killed after being hit by a vehicle.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Tierra Latrice Blackston, was impaired at the time of the crash and had a revoked driver’s license, according to police.
Police said six children were also inside the vehicle when the collision occurred.
Blackston is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, misdemeanor child abuse, and several other offenses.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional details about the crash and the other charges were not immediately available.
