‘RJ Decker’ applies for local filming permit for season two

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The production behind “RJ Decker” Season 2 has applied for a filming permit to shoot scenes in Wilmington’s Suncourt Villas neighborhood next week, according to a permit application filed with the city.

The application, submitted on behalf of 20th Television, requests filming on Sept. 1 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Suncourt Villas, located at 5006 Villa Place W.

Prep days are scheduled for Aug. 30 and 31. Contingency dates of Sept. 2 or 3 are also listed in case of delays.

Filming is expected to take place both indoors and outdoors, according to the application. The production listed three cast members, 100 crew members and 10 extras for the shoot.

The permit requests a street closure on Villa Place W. to the dead-end, though residents, emergency responders, and mail and package delivery would retain access at all times. NC DOT-certified flaggers would manage a lane closure within the road closure, and two police officers would be stationed in the area from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. as needed.

Equipment parking, base camp and catering are planned for Masonboro Baptist Church, while extras holding, cast and crew parking, and catering would be based at Long Leaf Park. The application does not list any on-street parking or special effects. Special equipment includes a lift and generators within the designated equipment parking area.

The city’s film liaison, Mary Toffolon, is accepting concerns from residents or businesses that could be affected by the closure.
