Cape Fear cafe pays tribute to Dolly Parton

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A day after Dolly Parton’s passing, fans across the Cape Fear are remembering the country music icon and the legacy she leaves behind.

Parton died Tuesday at age 80 following recent health concerns.

Fans are remembering Parton for her music, her charm and the love she shared with the world.

In her honor, Luna Cafe on Castle Street played Parton’s music throughout the day and offered a special honey butter latte.

Ten percent of every honey butter latte sold is being donated to Parton’s Imagination Library initiative.

Genna Collier, who works at Luna Cafe, says the cafe wanted to honor Parton for the giving and caring person she was.

“A big inspiration for us and all of our community efforts has always been Dolly. I feel like she’s someone who always gives back to the community and gives what she has and so, a lot of our community libraries or community fun for people to get beverages and stuff comes from that like give what you have, and so losing her we just wanted to do something to celebrate her and have a place for people to come listen to her music and maybe talk to each other and just have a moment to connect and yeah, mourn,” said Collier.

Collier says the cafe sold dozens of Dolly lattes Wednesday and was thrilled to see the community come out to honor Parton.
