CFCC to hold Patriot Day remembrance ceremony Sept. 11

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College will hold a Patriot Day remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11 to honor the victims, survivors and first responders of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at CFCC’s North Campus Safety Training Center, 4500 Blue Clay Road in Castle Hayne.

According to the college, the event will recognize those affected by the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, as well as the passengers and crews aboard American Airlines Flights 11 and 77 and United Airlines Flights 93 and 175.

The ceremony will include welcome remarks from Dr. Shane Guyant, chair of CFCC’s Public Safety Department, a remembrance presentation by NYCPD 10-13 of Wilmington, the striking of the Four Fives and the laying of a memorial wreath.

The event is open to the public.
