Paramotor forced into emergency ocean landing in Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Oak Island Public Safety responded Tuesday evening after a paramotor craft made an emergency landing in the ocean.

The Town of Oak Island said the incident happened around 6:05 p.m. Sept. 1, after a section of cable became lodged in the craft’s propeller.

The pilot and paramotor were brought back to shore. The pilot was evaluated at the scene and did not appear to have any serious injuries, according to the town.

The craft, including its sealed fuel tank, was also recovered from the ocean.

Officials said there was no environmental contamination or damage to nearby structures as a result of the incident.

The town said no additional information was available Tuesday evening. Officials will provide updates if more information becomes available.
