Topsail falls to Northside Jacksonville 46-16
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Northside Jacksonville used a big offensive night to pull away from Topsail for a 46-16 win Friday.
The Monarchs were already in control when quarterback Reginald Gray escaped pressure, scrambled to his right and got the ball to running back Zion Jones. Jones made a defender miss and powered his way into the end zone to extend the lead.
Topsail answered immediately on the ensuing kickoff. Aaron Sandherr let his blockers get set, found an opening and broke free for a long return to give the Pirates a quick response.
Northside Jacksonville kept attacking through the air. Gray later connected with Gavyn Davis, who made the catch, fought off a defender and ran into the end zone for another touchdown.
The Monarchs went on to defeat the Pirates 46-16.
