Wilmington townhome complex flooded after heavy rain

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A Wilmington townhome complex remained flooded Monday after receiving about 6 inches of rain Sunday night, with residents using kayaks to get around the property.

Photos sent to WWAY show residents kayaking through Harbor Station Townhomes as standing water covered roads and common areas.

Residents say flooding is a recurring problem at the complex, occurring after many storms in the area.

Tina McKnight said water from Sunday night’s storm even began entering her apartment.

“So I put towels and stuff down to try and stop the water. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough, especially when the cars would go through and created that wave effect. All that water would just rush up,” McKnight said.

McKnight said the continued flooding has become serious enough that she plans to move out of the complex.

WWAY has reached out to the management company about the flooding and whether any plans are in place to address the recurring problem. The company had not responded as of Monday.
