Ashley football falls to Fike, 46-27
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Ashley and Fike traded scores early Friday night, but the Golden Demons pulled away for a 46-27 win over the Screaming Eagles.
Fike struck first when quarterback Delarin Finch connected with Braylen Loften on a short pass that Loften took into the end zone. The extra point was no good, giving the Golden Demons a 6-0 lead.
Ashley answered soon after. Raleigh Sutton handed the ball off to Zion Waters, who found an opening and broke free for a touchdown. The extra point gave the Screaming Eagles a 7-6 lead.
Fike responded with another score in the first quarter as Finch used his legs to reach the end zone. The Golden Demons added a two-point conversion to go back in front, 14-7.
Ashley tied the game at 14 when Sutton connected with Jeremiah Isom for a touchdown.
Fike regained control before halftime, taking a 26-14 lead into the break. The Golden Demons continued to add to their advantage in the second half and went on to defeat Ashley, 46-27.
