Hoggard rolls past Panther Creek, 40-7

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  After a close loss at Clayton last week, Hoggard came home looking to get back in the win column.

The Vikings entered Friday night 2-1 and brought plenty of energy into their matchup with Panther Creek.

Senior quarterback Matthew Boring helped set the tone early, connecting on a series of short passes before finding his favorite target, Desyn Durand, on a deep ball down the sideline.

That set up sophomore running back Judah Gillespie, who punched the ball into the end zone on the next play.

Durand continued to make an impact, taking a short pass and weaving past several defenders for another quick score as Hoggard built an early lead. Durand had more than 150  yards in the first half.

The Vikings kept their foot on the gas, with Boring adding a rushing touchdown of his own, and Judah Gillespie scoring for a second time.

Hoggard went on to dominate Panther Creek, winning 40-7 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
