Pender County seeks community input for New Maple Hill playground

BURGAW, N.C. (WWAY) — Pender County is asking residents to help shape plans for a new playground in the Maple Hill community.

The county will hold a drop-in public engagement session Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Maple Hill Volunteer Fire Department, located at 115 Old Maple Hill Road N.

Funding for the playground comes from an appropriation by the North Carolina General Assembly.

During the session, residents will be able to share ideas for playground features, accessibility, play elements and other amenities.

“This is an opportunity for the Maple Hill community to help shape a space that will belong to them,” Pender County Parks and Recreation Director Zach White said. “We want to hear from the families, neighbors and children who will use this playground so we can create a place that reflects the community and gives families a space to gather, play and make memories for years to come.”

Residents can stop by anytime during the two-hour session to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback.
