Leland lifts temporary burn ban after three months
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Leland has lifted its temporary burn ban after more than three months.
The burn ban was lifted at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to the Town of Leland.
The town originally issued the burn ban June 9 because of unfavorable weather conditions for open burning.
Fire officials are reminding residents to continue burning responsibly now that the temporary ban has been lifted.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Check for current burning restrictions before starting a fire.
- Monitor weather conditions.
- Never leave a debris fire unattended.
- Obtain the proper burn permit when required.
Burn permits are available through authorized permitting agents or online through the North Carolina Forest Service.
The town also reminded residents that a permanent ban on open burning for land-clearing purposes within Leland town limits remains in effect. That restriction is separate from the temporary burn ban.
Residents can check with the town for additional information about the permanent restriction and open-burning regulations.
